khilesh Yadav is a politician and son of the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav . Akhilesh Yadav was born on 1 July 1973 in Saifai Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. He is shot to sudden fame when he took his political party named Samajwadi party to unprecedented victory. He led the campaign and worked hard and addressed more than 200 meetings and this has made him stand ahead of others.

His parents are Mulayam Singh Yadav and Malti Devi. After completing his school life at Military School at Dholpur in Rajasthan, he continued his higher education in engineering at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering of the University of Mysore. Later he went to Australia for studying the Masters degree in environmental engineering at the University of Sydney. As he is highly educated, he could understand the value of education and his party promised many offers like free laptops to students and computer education which led to its victory in 2012 elections.

He married Dimple in November 1999 and has three children named Aditi and twins Arjun and Tina. He is also an agriculturist, engineer, politician and social worker, that is how he lists his profession in the official bio data of Lok Sabha. He has been the member of Lok Sabha for three terms from 2000. When he won for the first time in 2000 from the Kannauj constituency in the by elections, he was only 27.

His father won in two seats at that time, from Mainpuri and Kannauj and had to vacate one in which Akhilesh contested. In 2009 Lok Sabha elections, he contested in two constituencies, Kannauj and Firozabad . He retained Kannauj and gave up Firozabad.

He was a football player when he studied at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering. Once the ball hit straight on his nose and he suffered nose fracture. The mark on his nose is seen even today and the nose appears slightly bent. He loves riding bicycle and is seen on Twitter and Facebook.

Akhilesh Yadav worked to fulfill the aspirations of the youth which made him go beyond caste. He has good leadership qualities that is expected of any great leader and raises issues related to poverty, corruption, evils of the society and agriculture. During the campaign of the 2012 assembly elections, he had traveled over 10,000 kilometers and had held 800 rallies in six months’ time. His wise choice of candidates and bringing more educated professionals into his party are the main reasons for his success. People see the leader of tomorrow in him.

Political Career of Akhilesh Yadav

  • In 2000, Akhilesh Yadav was elected as a member of the Lok Sabha for the first time from Kannauj. Thereafter, he won the Lok Sabha elections for the next two consecutive terms.
  • Akhilesh Yadav has held membership in Civil Supplies, Food and Public Distribution Committee.
  • From 2000 to 2001, he served as a member of the Committee on Ethics.
  • From 2002 to 2004, he was a member of the Committee on Environment and Forests and also of the Committee on Science and Technologies.
  • In 2004, he was re-elected as a member of the 14th Lok Sabha for a second term.
  • From 2004 to 2009, he held membership in Committee on Urban Development, Committee on Estimates, Committee on Provision of Computers to various departments.
  • In 2009, he became member of the 15th Lok Sabha; he got re-elected for a third consecutive term.
  • From 2009 to 2012, he served as member of the Committee on Environment & Forests, Committee on Science & Technology and the JPC on the 2G spectrum scam.
  • On 10 March 2012, Akhilesh Yadav was appointed the leader of the Samajwadi Legislative Party in Uttar Pradesh.
  • On 15 March 2012, at the age of 38 years, he became the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
  • On 2 May 2012, he resigned as member of the 15th Lok Sabha to become Member of Legislative Council in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Achievements of Akhilesh Yadav

  • Akhilesh Yadav has been actively involved in developing rural life and working for the welfare of the farmers and the poor. He is known as one of the young faces in Indian politics.
  • Akhilesh Yadav has been recognized by the Samajwadi Party for his role in campaigning for the party during Vidhan Sabha elections. His innovative style of campaigning across the state through cycle rallies was a great success as it became quite popular among voters of different communities specially the young generation.
