Henry Bolton was born 2 March 1963. UK POLITICS: Henry Bolton Biography

Henry Bolton was born 2 March 1963.

I am a former infantry officer and tank crewman. I passed out from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as Best Overall Cadet and served in the UK, Germany, Belize, Cyprus and Bosnia.

I later became a police officer with Thames Valley Police before being deployed to various conflict areas by the government (Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania, Georgia, Central Asia, Libya, Ukraine) on senior diplomatic secondments to the Organisation for Security & Cooperation in Europe (www.osce.org), the UN, the EU and on UK tasks.

– Commander of a multinational strategic intelligence unit in Bosnia

– Head of International Police in Central Croatia

– Liaison officer to the Serbian Internal Security Forces in Kosovo during the war

– Humanitarian crisis management adviser to the Office of the Albanian Prime Minister

– War crimes investigations and exhumations of suspected war crimes victims

– United Nations District Governor and Head of Local Government in Kosovo

– Head of Regional Ceasefire Operations, Skopje, Macedonia

– Strategic Border Management Adviser to the Macedonian government

– Transnational Organised Crime Adviser to the Macedonian Minister of Interior

– Expert Advisor on reform of the Georgian State Border Guard Command and Control

– Head of border strategies, programmes and projects across the 57 member states of the Organisation for Security & Cooperation in Europe

– Coalition Stabilisation Leader (‘Supported Civilian Commander’) for the coalition forces in Musa Qala and Now Zad Districts, Northern Helmand

– EU Common Security & Defence Policy Crisis Response Team, Libya

– Strategic and Operational Planner, EU Common Security & Defence Policy, Brussels

– Head of the EU Crisis Response Team in Ukraine

Further International Contributions
– Advised and supported the UN Counter Terrorism Executive Directorate

– Provided expert advice to the US Congressional Commission on “Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation”

– Drafted the National Border Management Strategy for the Republic of Tajikistan

– Negotiated support for the above strategy from the US, Russian Federation, EU, OSCE and NATO

– Founded the International Border Management Staff College in Central Asia

– Established the OSCE Regional Border Management Strategy for the whole Central Asian region

– Led, or participated in, numerous political and conflict risk assessments on behalf of international governmental organisations

– Advised on strategic reform of the security sector in a number of countries
