PHILIPPINE POLITICS: Philippines Demands Proof for Human Rights Watch’s Assertion of Police ‘Executions’
Philippines dismissed as “thoughtless and irresponsible” a report by Human Rights Watch that President Rodrigo Duterte had turned a blind eye to murders by police in what the group called a “campaign of extrajudicial execution”.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was criticized on Tuesday by Israel’s main government watchdog over what it said was a lack of preparation and cabinet consultation over a network of Hamas tunnels that confounded the military in the 2014 Gaza war.
Human Rights Watch called for Myanmar to punish army and police commanders if they allowed troops to rape and sexually assault women and girls of the Rohingya Muslim minority.
“They are all unjust acts by a traditional society, far more restrictive than what is lawfully allowed by the precepts of religion,” Prince Alwaleed said.
“One day he demanded to have sex with me. I refused but he forced me,” A 17-year-old girl said she was raped by a policeman.
Human Rights Watch says South Africas withdrawal from the International Criminal Court is an enormous blow to its commitment to justice for atrocity crimes.
