NIGERIA POLITICS: US, UK Biggest Recipients of Looted Funds From Nigeria: US Intelligence Expert

Mr Mathew Page, former United States intelligence community’s top expert on Nigeria has said, “Nigeria’s kleptocrats deftly use both Nigerian banks and the international financial system, especially anonymous shell corporations and offshore tax havens, to launder stolen public funds and stash them overseas, often in the form of high-end real estate in London, Dubai, New York, and California.

“Despite possessing robust discretionary powers, the US and UK rarely deny visas to corrupt officials or report cases of suspected corruption or unexplained wealth back to law enforcement agencies back home.

“The UK is one of a small number of global financial centres that play a key role in processing substantial levels of corrupt capital,” Mathew Page said.

ISRAEL POLITICS: Revealed! Israel Pressuring Trump to Cancel Iran Deal

“Donald Trump is getting advice from two very problematic people,” said Wayne Madsen, an author and columnist specializing in intelligence and international affairs.

Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and his senior advisor, is only interested in advancing the interests of Israel, Madsen said during a phone interview with Press TV on Tuesday.

“And the other person is Trump’s friend, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, whose friendship not only extends back to Donald Trump, but even includes Donald Trump’s father,” Madsen said.

“It’s not surprising that Trump is trying to sabotage the nuclear agreement,” the analyst noted.

USA POLITICS: Melania Trump Didn’t Find It Funny When Ivana Trump Said ‘Because I’m Basically First Trump Wife, OK? I’m First Lady, OK’

USA POLITICS: Melania Trump Didn’t Find It Funny When Ivana Trump Said ‘Because I’m Basically First Trump Wife, OK? I’m First Lady, OK’

The spat broke out after Ivana Trump gave a television interview on ABC’s Good Morning America during which she claimed “basically first Trump wife, I’m first lady.’

“I have the direct number to White House, but I don’t really want to call him there because Melania is there, and I don’t really want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that because I’m basically first Trump wife, OK? I’m first lady, OK,” Ivana Trump told viewers, before laughing.

Clearly the current Mrs. Trump didn’t see the funny side as she fired back a sharply-worded statement from her communications director, Stephanie Grisham.

“Mrs. Trump has made the White House a home for Barron and the president. She loves living in Washington, DC, and is honored by her role as first lady of the United States. She plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books. There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex, this is unfortunately only attention-seeking and self-serving noise,” the statement said.

USA POLITICS: Trump’s Popularity Slipping in Rural America: New Poll

USA POLITICS: Trump’s Popularity Slipping in Rural America: New Poll

“Rural people are more cynical about the federal government than people in general are,” Stauber said. “They’ve heard so many promises, and they’ve not seen much done.”

Despite all the talk of bringing manufacturing jobs back, Stauber said he has not seen any companies which have relocated to his region, or anyone expand their workforce, due to new federal policies.

“It just seems like we’ve dropped off the screen,” he said.

According to the poll, Trump’s overall popularity has dropped gradually, and for different reasons, this year.

USA POLITICS: Health and Safety Rules Targeted as Trump Begins to Slash Red Tape

USA POLITICS: Health and Safety Rules Targeted as Trump Begins to Slash Red Tape

More than 1,500 accidents at chemical plants have been reported in the United States since 2007, and amendments to the Clean Air Act issued in the last days of former President Barack Obama’s administration would have forced plants handling risky chemicals to coordinate emergency plans with local responders.

President Donald Trump’s administration suspended the regulations, placing them in a two-year review. Trade associations argued the new rules were inconsistent with Trump’s pledges to cut regulations and with his executive order issued in January requiring federal agencies to offset each new regulation with two deregulatory actions.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders, asked if Trump was concerned about the reported use of private emails, told reporters earlier on Thursday, “The White House has been clear and instructs all staff to fully comply with the Presidential Records Act. All staff has been briefed on the need to preserve those records, and will continue to do so.”

“The White House counsel’s office is reviewing the accounts to determine if the messages are germane to any investigations such as the ongoing Russia probes by Congress and special counsel Robert Mueller,” Politico reported.

WORLD POLITICAL NEWS DAILY BRIEF: 15 August 2017

WORLD BRIEF: Committee Chairman Kevin Brady told CNBC in an interview, “We are on track to deliver transformational, bold tax reform this year. We have the White House, the House, the Senate working together on the same page unifying behind a single tax reform plan. That didn’t happen with healthcare.”

“We’re still working with the White House and Senate on the details of this plan but we’re going to push rates as low as we can and we’re going to incentivize as much business investment now and in the future as we can,” Brady told CNBC, adding that any changes should be permanent “so that families and businesses can count on this.”
