NIGERIA POLITICS: Vice President Osinbajo Makes Case For Competent Deputies

NIGERIA POLITICS: Vice President Osinbajo Makes Case For Competent Deputies

Vice President Osinbajo is a priced asset that has proven roundly that contrary to the impression some people hold, Nigeria has an abundance of competent and well-honed leaders that can steer its ship from perdition. His stellar showing in the period he managed the affairs of the country is a credible and resounding testimonial that the offices of Vice President and Deputy Governors are critical and should not be filled with pawns that merely acquiesce to whatever the boss wants.

Prof. Osinbajo has proved that the office of a deputy is as important as the main office and Nigerians must tap the critical lesson from his worthy performance in that office and make good use of the office instead of merely tolerating it, as is mostly the case today.

NIGERIA POLITICS: The Case For Arming Pro-Biafra Agitators In Nigeria – Part II

By and large, if this could be done for the hitherto peaceful and hapless Syrian anti-government protesters by the then Barrack Obama administration in the U.S, there is no gainsaying therefore that the no-nonsense, responsible and responsive government being led by President Donald J. Trump could do it better for the peaceful, unarmed and endangered people of Biafra – who are currently under heavy military siege in Nigeria. A stitch in time saves nine.

NIGERIA POLITICS: Time to Tame IPOB Agitation, Lest History Repeats Itself

It is time to end ‘agitations’ for securing narrow political interests which in the end don’t even address the cause of such agitation which are socio-economic and widespread in nature. A Yoruba man heralded the current republic riding on the grievances of the Southwest in the June 12 imbroglio; a Goodluck Jonathan got to presidency under the agitation of Niger Deltans for resource control. Looking back neither the country nor the zones which produced these leaders could point to any meaningful development, despite humongous advantage in foreign earnings.

NIGERIA POLITICS: Interview: 2019: Nigeria Youths Uninterested In Politics- Young Party Leader

Youths are not speaking with one voice in Nigeria. And the older ones know the tricks to dismember them whenever they unite as one. Two of the tricks are money and positions. If the youth of the country can unite as one and establish a formidable political platform where they can express their political ideologies then all will be well. And they also must have it in mind to serve and not to be served. Federal government and other stakeholders should also work towards creating conducive environment and providing the tools for them to work with. Parts of the tools are the Nigerian Youth in Politics Endowment Fund (NYPEF) and the national enforcement committee to see towards the actualization of the Not Young to Run Bill.
