Åland Islands from 1809 to 1918 were part of the Russian Empire, its westernmost outpost. In the XVIII century, for 10 years, the Åland Congress was held on the islands, which led to the conclusion of the Nystadt Peace between Russia and Sweden, which put an end to the Northern War of 1700-1721.
Annalena Baerbock’s remark reads as follows: “… yes, we must do more to protect Ukraine, yes, we must do more with regard to tanks.
